“Captain” hissed the speaker, “Captain Serus!” The crackling was more insistent. She rolled over and hit the speaker button, interrupting the flow of static. “What is it Kale?”
“Cassius IV is approaching” replied the metallic voice. At this she scrambled out of her small bunk, pulled on her cargo trousers and grabbed an old knitted jumper from where it lay strewn across a pile of star charts on the table. She climbed up the ladder, out of her cabin and raced along the shuddering gang plank to the navigation deck.

The bright moon shone dutifully over the already neon lit city sprawl. There was once a need for such things as the white orb above, but as humanity grew and moved further from nature, they forgot.
